I'm trying to change the color of the bars on the Resourse Graph that will
designate vacation time separate from work time. Any ideas?

Judy,
I'm a little confused. Vacation time is non-working time, right (i.e.
the resource isn't there)? That being the case, there are no assignments
(i.e. work) for resources on vacation. So how could the resource graph
(of any color) show work that doesn't exist? I guess I'm missing
something. Help us understand.

I want to show vacation time scheduled on the Resource Graph. You're
right...that is non-working time, but the Project Manager's want to see it
that way. Is there a way to differentiate working time bar graph color from
vacation time bar graph color?

Judy,
OK, let me try this again. It cannot be done using the Resource Graph in
Project. As a matter of fact, to develop the type of graph your managers
want will require the use of an advanced feature of Project, namely VBA.
first a simple algorithm needs to be developed to calculate vacation
time versus working time and non-working time (e.g. after hours). Then
the data will need to be exported to a more versatile graphing
application (e.g. Excel).

It can be done, it just is not straightforward.
