Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

It seems as if Entourage 2008 arbitrarily assiged an existing Category to all incoming emails that I can't change. I would like 'None' as the default category for any emails that arrive from people or companies not assigned to an existing categories. I can't seem make this happen.

Thanks.

Check if there is any rule sitting and doing this for you. Click on tools
and rules in Entourage and confirm and if this is not the case check mailing
list manager. Click on Tools and click on Mailing list manager and check if
there is any rule there.

In Entourage Preferences, open Address Book preferences. At the bottom,
there are 3 options for Messages. Uncheck "Automatically link contacts with
the messages I receive from them." You might need to uncheck the other two
options also.

I just started using Apple. I am trying to find my way around Entourage. In Microsoft Outlook I can go to email options and change settings such as what happens when I delete an email it can go to the next email, the previous one so forth. I can't find how to do this in Entourage. Am I missing something?

If you have an answer or comment for the original poster then please
respond within that thread. Otherwise, if you're looking for a solution
to your own problem -- no matter how similar to someone else's -- then
begin your own thread. Similar problems may not have the same solutions.

The same option does not exist in Entourage. You can use a keyboard
command instead.

From the Entourage Help:

Delete the current message and display the previous message
OPTION+⌘+[

Delete the current message and display the next message
OPTION+⌘+]

If this doesn't answer your question then begin a new thread with
details of your own problem, include your software versions and what
you've tried already to fix the problem.

Hope this helps!
