How do I change the default data length of text in Visio?

I have just been handed a chart of 150 tables and told to set the data types
and lengths. Many are text. I prefer to not specify data length but Visio
seems to force one. If anyone can help me specify "text" with no length that
would be best. Failing that, How may I change the default for data type text
to 255. At present it is a matter of 5 clicks for each text field of each
table! HELP PLEASE. This is not a friendly product at this point.

Hi,

You can define your user-defined type in database/user-defined types:
1. You click on add
2. type a name
3. define category as 'text' and length as '255'
4. click OK
5. doubleclick an existing table
6. Select a column (make sure it is listed as portable type, otherwise
change it to portable and go back to physical after you have changed the
data type)
7. From the data type dropdown list choose the user-defined type you created
