How do I change the default zoom on Word?

Hi there,

I have Word X for Mac (the 2003 version). Every time it loads
document, it loads it with only 75% zoom, which makes it very difficul
to read. So, each time I load a document, I have to change the zoom t
125%. I was wondering if there is any way that i can have the progra
automatically load documents with 125% zoom, instead of the defaul
75%?

Many Thanks in advance

There is a Word X (office 10, which came out well before 2003), and there is
a Word 2004 (office 11). There is a WinWord 2003. It is totally unclear to
me which version you have.

However, it doesn't really matter. Zoom and View is a per-document setting,
not a program setting, so you can't just set the program.

For your basic new documents, you need to open up the Normal template,
change the zoom, space backspace so that Word knows something needs to be
saved, save, and close. That will only affect documents you create.

If you want to control how documents created by others and sent to you open,
you will need to set up some macros.

To find the Normal template, see here. Actually, I guess if I knew the
version I could tell you where to find it, but there's a lot of useful
information at this link anyhow.

Check out:

4957ed3d561

(that's all one URI, watch for line-wrap).

It was written for Word 04, but will work in Word v.X (change the
application directory, obviously).

You'll need to change the zoom percentage from 175 to 125, but that's
not hard - the information's in the message. Post back if you have
questions.
