how do i check spelling + grammar, it says is marked skip text?

Trying to do my homework!

on the tools menu, i the tab check spelling and grammar, the grammar area is
grey. Also, it won't let me the check the spelling and grammar becauseit says
tat the text has been marked as skip spelling and grammarchecks. It does not
show the readibility statistics eitheras it says 0 on everytihing, even when
I have typed things. How can I solve this problem?

Press Ctrl+A to select everything. Choose Tools - Language - Set Language,
and set the language to one for which proofing tools are installed. E.g., if
you're in the U.S., that likely would be English (US).

box, remove the check next to "Do not check spelling or grammar".
