How do I close... "A Dialog Box is open, Close and try Again."

T

When I try to compose a new email I get a message that pops up and says... "A
dialog box is open. Close it and try again." What is this refering to? How
do I close this "dialog box" because I do not see any box to close...

We cannot see your screen from here so it is hard to say.

Anyway;
Tools-> Options produces a dialog box which has to be closed before you can
do anything. Another dialog box that has to be closed before you can do
anything is when prompted for a password in Outlook.

Windows Logo key+M minimizes everything and shows the Desktop, press Outlook
on the Task Bar and usually any open dialog boxes will reveal itself.

Having the same problem. If I right-click the contacts window or try to
create a new contact using the menu button I'm getting this dialog, however,
if I double-click the empty space then I get a contact form as expected. I
can reproduce this after a fresh reboot and outlook start when the only open
dialog in the entire system is this useless message box.

Try starting Word or Excel to see if the dialogue box appears. If so, fill
it in and then Outlook should work OK.

Brian,

Thanks a lot, that seems to have done the trick. Still wonder what the
dialogue was, though. Also, once this message appeared I couldn't close
Outlook anymore - well, not without task manager. Anyway, appears to be fine
now.

Did you see a dialogue when you started the other Office app? That's the
dialogue Outlook was trying to open.

If you start Task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) find OUTLOOK.EXE in the processes tab and click End process, this should do the trick. Reason being, the computer maybe doing alot at once and if you try to close a window when the PC is busy it doesn't close properly. Ending the process terminates it completely.
