How do I close a outlook or any program automatically?

I am looking for a way to automate my email shipping notifications.
Currently I can set up my shipping program and outlook to send the emails
automatically but it takes an hour or so. There for I start this at the end
of the day and just let it run. But that leaves both programs running and
causes conflicts with back up. I have tried Scheduled Tasks but it did not
work. I would like to know if anyone does something similar and if they have
a program or suggestion that will automatically close out of outlook when
all emails have been sent.

Have you tried posting this to an office developer's group or a group for programming? You will probably find a better solution from a group where the real experts in this type of automation hang out.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
