How do I connect to my database which is on the hard drive?

WireGuy

New to front page...I have a database on my hard drive and want to test it
out before moving forward. I used the wizard, but the database is not on a
"server", can I make my hard drive a "server" location? If so, how do I do
that?

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks, Kathleen

Yes...is the link something that will allow me to work with the database on
my hard drive?

Yes. After you install IIS, Open FrontPage and create a new web as
http://localhost/newweb then import the database into your web site and
create a database connection:

Create a new page in your web site with an .asp extension and run the
Database Results Wizard.

Still no luck loading IIS...any ideas? Must I have IIS to run it on my
system prior to publishing to my hard drive?

What does "no luck" mean? Have you not been able to get access to the CD, or
have you tried to install it with the CD and it's not working?

If your web site is hosted on a Windows server that supports ASP and Access,
you could have a subweb created and test it there.

I've been on vacation last Thursday and Friday, but still had a little time
to work on this project. I could not get the CD since I was not there.

I'm fairly sure our website supports frontpage...I was told FP is the
program used to create it...I'm not sure if it supports MS Access (I really
need it to).

I can wait until tomorrow, but I'd really like to work from my hard drive
instead of a server location at this point.

Thanks for your support!

FP supports Access DB on Windows Servers
- to use / test an Access DB on your PC in a Web Site you will need to install IIS and the FP SE as recommended by others
