Sorry, but this one of the really craziest questions I ever came across
in these newsgroups.

WMA is an *audio* format.
How could that be *converted* to text??

What are you after?
Extraction of the *lyrics* if a song?
I do not know any software being able to do that.

Creating sheets with the notes of the music in the WMA?
That's still Sci-Fi.

Artifaex,

If you want to convert the audio file to text by using the built in audio
indexer, this cannot be done with OneNote by default. The audio search
routine stores the "words" it recognizes as a phonetic representation of the
sounds and not as text.

If you have a high quality audio recording, you can try this:

Richard even points to a few other tools which may help.

If you give it a try, let us all know how it turns out!

I curious as to why the speech recognition wouldn't work? I use ON to record
my thoughts when I am listening to a book on the iPod and then I say outloud
my notes on the book and it translates those into text. It's slow, but it
makes for a nice drive home. I don't see what the difference would be if you
played the sound outload or piped it straight from the speakers to the input
