How do I convert a word document to word perfect?

I use word perfect and occasionally I receive attachments that are written in
Word. How do I convert word to word perfect?

My question is: what are the risks involved? Isn't this procedure called
'round-tripping'? Wouldn't it be advisable to send a backup copy to a safe
location beforehand, in case of a train-wreck scenario? Just wondering.

I don't believe the issue of round-tripping was raised here.

WordPerfect opens Word documents. Of course, the abilities are somewhat
dependent on your version of WordPerfect. Upgrade to v. 11 or 12, if you
still have, for example, 8. Set file type in Open Dialog to All files or
Word.

Word Perfect also saves in Word format, and can do it automatically if a
Word document is open. It used to be in Tools, Settings, Files, Document
tab, where there was a check box On Save, keep document's original file
format.
