How do I convert Bitmap image to jpeg or gif image?

I simple want to convert bitmap to jpeg or gif.

Although Word is not the best application for this, it *can* be done
provided you don't care whether you get a JPEG or a GIF (you don't get a
choice). If the bitmap is inserted in a Word document, it can be extracted
by saving the document as a Web page. For more, see

If you need more flexibility than what Word has to offer you'd do best to
use software designed to edit images rather than one designed to edit text,
then insert the finished graphic into your doc

If you are using Windows XP then just right-click on image file (or open your
image in Paint Brush) and choose Open With - Paint - click File menu - Save
As - under Save As type (below the file name box) choose the desire format
you need like JPEG, GIF etc.
