A better choice would be to install the Office 2007 file converters for
Office 2003 (a free Microsoft download). That lets Office 2003 work with
..docx (which is not encrypted, just a different file format). Otherwise,
open the file again in Word 2007 and use Save As to save it as a Word
2003-format file.

To open a Word 2007 document in Word 2003 you need the compatibility pack
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en
and
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...C5-49C6-47BD-8BEC-0D68693CA564&displaylang=en
Even then you may experience problems - see
http://www.gmayor.com/Problems_opening_2007_docs.htm

However opening and saving documents from/to removable media is often
fraught with danger and can result in document corruption. Always work from
the hard disc and copy to/from removable media.

If you used File>Save As in Word to save it to the memory stick, there is a
good chance that the document is corrupted. You should always save to the
Hard Disk and then use Windows Explorer to copy the file to removeable
media.
