Open the pdf file. Select File/Print. Change your printer selection to Paper
Port (color or black and white as needed). When Paper Port opens file, Save
As and change file type to jpg

What program are you opening your pdf with, that installs a printer
driver called "Paper Port"?

Unfortunately Paper Port isn't something that everyone has. That software
isn't a freebie - it costs around US $99 & AFAIK doesn't even offer a free
trial. It definitely doesn't ship with any version of Windows or Office, nor
is it a MS product at all, so it doesn't help much to suggest the OP use
something they probably don't have.

If you have Acrobat Professional, you can open the pdf and save it as a
JPEG.

An alternative free solution might be InkScape (http://www.inkscape.org/).
It can open pdf files and using its export function you can save it as a
jpeg.

It does come with some scanners, however; my husband got it with his.

Paper Port must have come with my scanner because I didn't purchase or
install it seperately.

And I guess a low-tech way of making the conversion would be to print the
pdf on paper and scan the image...if all else fails.

Quite possibly the case. Unfortunately the OP really wasn't specific enough
in the request - I honestly can't tell whether they have a PDF they want to
convert to a JPG or whether there is an image *in* the PDF he/she wants to
extract as a separate JPG.
