Doctoral dissertation requires submission as Word doc but need to include
manual done in Publisher in appendix. How to import this and save
graphics/charts/formatting? Must be a common need as many don't have
Publisher so how do you share these files? HELP!!! Need immediate response!

I'm not sure you can with a satisfying result. How many pages are you transferring?
Normally to share Publisher files with those without Publisher, we'd suggest a PDF.
You can try the copy/paste route.
Save each Publisher page as a picture and insert into Word.
You have your work cut out for you. You could get lucky and the copy/paste will
retain most of the formatting.

I came to this conclusion myself and am in process of redoing entire manual
in Word format. Is 40+ pages so was quicker to redo than to monkey with
quality issues of cut/paste. Entire submission will eventually be converted
to PDF but initial requirement is Word. There are only a few diagragms that
can be modified to work. Am at it now! Entire dissertation is 200+ pages in
addition to this manual and am facing a deadline! Therefore I especially
appreciate your quick response! Thanks!

I would class that as a ridiculous requirement, and I'd suggest you speak
seriously to whoever is imposing that requirement. There is no point in
having PDF as a final requirement if everyone must submit in Word in the
meantime; there is little point in using Word instead of PDF as an
intermediary format: as you have seen, it constricts the number of available
usable programs considerably.
