how do I copy all text showing under the reviewing pane?

I have been editing a manuscript using track changes and responding to
comments made by other reviewers by inserting text into their comments as I
go along. I now need to compile a document which consists only of the
comments made and my additional comments and replies to their comments.
Unfortunately when I click in the reviewing pane and select all the comments
the option to copy is greyed out. Is there any way I can copy the comments as
one without having to individually select each one? I am using Word 2003.

I think the closest you're going to get without using a macro is File/Print and
choose to print "List of Markup". You can print to a plain text file, using a
"Generic/Text" printer and open the file to edit it.

Thanks for the suggestion but I can't get it to work. I do not have the
option to choose a "Generic/Text" printer and the only file choices given are
*.* or *.prn. Even if I choose *.* and save the file as test.txt it still
produces a document full of code instead of text. I have found a macro
suggestion given by Doug Robbins who was answering the post "Is there a way
to use track changes to create a table of changes? " which was posted in
microsoft.public.word.vba.general. I will give that a try! I am curious
though to figure out my print to file dilemma as it would be useful for other
purposes as well. Any suggestions would be great )

If you don't have a generic/text printer driver installed, add it from the
printers dialog.

You don't "choose" a Generic/Text Only printer. You *install* it. It's one
of the default printers available in Windows: go to Start>Printers and
Faxes>Add a Printer and choose it there.

While adding it, make sure you check the box that says "Print to file" but
do NOT specify a file name. That way, it will ask you for the file name
each time, which is what you want :)

Make sure you do NOT set this new printer as your Default printer :)
