How do I copy word docs to a cd

B

Boxcar Bill

I would like to know how to save a Word document to a cd.
I can do it by dragging the item to my cd drive. That has to go
through another program to write it whic is dumb. When it does,
it is in read mode only. I cannot change the attributes.
Your help is requested on this one.

Unless you have special software that treats a CD as a large floppy disc -
and which you should avoid like the plague for its propensity to lose data -
the only ways to copy data to a CD are to use disc mastering software such
as Nero or Ashampoo Burning Studio etc, or to allow Windows to create a data
disc, which it appears is what you may be doing now. You cannot and should
not attempt to *save* a Word file to CD.

As far as the operating system is concerned, CD is a read only medium and so
it will have the read only attributes set on the files. You can only write
to a recordable or re-recordable CD by virtue of external software.

Never ever work directly from Word with removable media such as floppy or
CD. Always work from the hard drive and COPY to and from the CD

When copying from the CD you will have to remove the file's read only
attribute in Windows Explorer.
