How do I correct large spaces between words?

sometimes when I copy a selected text on to a Word Document, large spaces
appear between the words so that perhaps only three or so words appear on a
line.
There is nothing I can do to correct this unless I type the whole selection
again. I don't know what causes this or how to fix it.

The text from Word is probably justified, in Visio use menu
Format -> Text
paragraph tab
and set the Horizontal Alignment to Left (or anything other than
Justified or Distributed).
