how do I create a document using a saved template

I have the template and want to create the final document, in this case a
statement of an account. Every time I try, it opens the template to change
the cells...,

Hi

i'm guessing you're running xp or 2003 as this is a source of confusion with
those versions ... when you choose file / new you need to select under the
TEMPLATES bit on the task pane - something like - general templates or
templates on my computer ... not where it is listed up the top with your
other recent documents.
