how do i create a file share with groove server?

I am feeling like a real idiot! We run a managed desktop environment where
the entire domain is accessed solely via citrix/terminal services.

We have one or two users who are travelling more and more and want to be
able to work on files offline on their laptops, so I figured Groove would be
a good option to keep the files in sync between the laptop and the file
server within the domain.

I installed Groove on our test citrix server and when I attempted to create
a fileshare workspace based on the users My Documents folder, it errored out
saying that it can't do a file share based on a remote drive. Umm - OK.
That's kind of a serious limitation in a LAN environment with roaming
profiles and folder redirection isn't it?

So I figured that Groove Server was the answer - centralizing management and
sharing centralized files must be what Groove Server is there for... So I
have a management and relay server built up and talking, and have set up my
test user with an account that is now active and I can log in. However I
can't for the life of me figure out how to set up their My Docs folder for
syncing.

How can I go about this? I can't seem to find any useful docs anywhere...

thanks!
Wes

Wes -

If files are all that you want to share then a SharePoint Files tool in the
Groove space may be your answer. The Groove Server does provide a centralized
management and databridging to external apps (with some customization) but a
SharePoint integration may work better for you (and cheaper in costs).
(Check out the workspaces below).

Hi SBC, how does this work? I looked at the links you posted but I didn't
see anything about integrating sharepoint and groove. I have sharepoint 2007
recently installed but I haven't set up any sites or anything yet (still
trying to get used to the admin interface)..

thanks!
