How do I create a filter in Access 200 using text criteria?

In Access 2007, when I right click on a field in a table there is no longer
an option to type in my own filter. How can I do this now? e.g. I wanted
today to look at names in one field with a filter of >="Jones", but can't
see where I would do this. It was available on previous versions.

Hmm, it looks like in their zeal to provide built-in, data-type-appropriate
filters, it didn't occur to them that you would want to be filtering text
fields with a ">" operator. I think that was stupid. So far as I can see,
you would have to go through Advanced Filter/Sort process, which is way more
complicated than such a simple filter warrants.

There ought to be a custom-filter box. Maybe there's one somewhare, but I
sure don't see one. Of course, I am still a relative newcomer to Access
2007, so maybe I missed something.

I expect one could build a custom ribbon item for this, if necessary.

I also used to put more complex filters too:
"Jones" AND <"Smith"
100 and <=255
Like "M*Donalds"
It was an easy and FAST way to filter a table on a one-time basis!
Somehow I don't think it will come back in Access 2010 either - too bad!

Yes, I do that, too, in earlier versions.

Probably not, but we can agitate for its return in the following version.
