Two steps.
1. Migrate your Hotmail account to the new Windows Live Hotmail
format if it's a free account and you haven't done it already.
2. Download and install the Outlook connector add-in.

Outlook Connector might work, might not. For my freebie Hotmail
accounts (one of which was a legacy account migrated during the Nov
2004 event when WebDAV was removed for new freebie accounts created
afterward), both of which were converted to Windows Live mode, they
cannot be used with Outlook Connector. The same message appears
notifying me that Hotmail now requires a subscription (i.e., a paid
account) to access my Hotmail accounts.
So the OP could try Outlook Connector and cross his fingers that he
gets access to a freebie Hotmail account. Otherwise, he will have to
pay for a premium Hotmail account (although I hear an MSN account is
cheaper and which includes Hotmail).
