How do I create an index for subject matter in powerpoint briefs?

I have a number of different briefing packages covering a general topic.
Within each of these briefs there are specific sub-topics.

I would like to create a summary powerpoint brief and/or word document in
which I could have an index / links to the backup materials in the multiple
briefing packages.

I would appreciate and and alll thoughts.
