I want to show lactometer in one of my visio diagrams. I found a jpeg image
of lactometer but do not know how to use it in visio. I would like to know
how jpeg couldbe used in visio and also if there is an option to creat e
custom images like lactometer in visio itself

First, you can insert the picture [menu bar > Insert > Picture from file].
Once in Visio you can resize it, crop it [menu bar > View > Tool Bars >
Drawing]. Then you can basicly treat it as a shape, adding connector points,
etc. However, if you want to do editting, I'd use some other package
designed to handle pictures.

As far as creating custom images, yes, you can do that. They can be simple
shapes using the drawing tools along with the fill, line formatting tools.
You can get quite elaborate if you wish, but, Visio doesn't easily do complex
formatting like you might find with PhotoPlus or PhotoShop. A starting point
might be to insert the drawing and then begin "tracing" over it with Visio's
toolset.
