How do I create text along a curved path in PowerPoint

In PowerPoint I am trying to add white text that follows the curve (path)
inside a curving up hollow arrow from the Autoshapes library. I have tried
inserting text and Wordart but nothing seems to understand/follow the same
curve as the autoshape.

Copy the WordArt, paste special as a .wmf, select, ungroup, manually rotate each
letter individually to follow the path (you can also right-click the letter,
format autoshape, size tab and rotate). Tedious, but it is doable.
