How do I created an accented letter (like é) in small caps?

How do I created an accented letter (like é) in small caps? When I try to
type the e in small caps it loses the accent. It seems I can only retain the
accent as a large capital letter.

Find a font that has that character.

There is a setting on the Edit tab of Tools | Options to "Enforce accented
uppercase in French" that I would think might be related, but I suspect
JoAnn is on the right track, as I don't have that box checked, and I get an
accented E when I apply Small Caps formatting to é. Check Insert | Symbol to
make sure your font contains the character.
