How do I cure a lookoutsoft error message?

When I open Outlook 20007, I get an error message that says: Sorry. It
looks like another Outlook plugin has installed an unofficial version of the
Outlook libraries which breaks Lookout. Lookout will not be able to load.
For more information see:
http://www.lookoutsoft.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10.

The link doesn't work. I've uninstalled Google desktop from my laptop
thinking that might be the issue, but the error message still appears.

Any ideas?

Uninstall the Lookoutsoft plug-in. Does Outlook load normally now?
Then check that Lookoutsoft actually has a newer version of their
plug-in that is compatible with your operating system and its service
pack level along with the version and service pack level of Outlook.

There are more than one company that contains "lookoutsoft" with and
without spaces so I haven't a clue as to which one you mean. There is
one that talks about "guitar tabs" so that probably isn't regarding
whatever you have that works with Outlook. There was a LookOut company
that was acquired back in 2004 by Microsoft that built an Outlook
plug-in; see:

http://weblog.cemper.com/a/200407/16-lookoutsoft-aquired-by-microsoft.php

There are some articles on Microsoft's site about the Lookout plug-in
but some are dead, like:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ee-16e5-4961-91b8-2200ba31ea37&DisplayLang=en

which no longer is defined. Others are still alive, like:

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2004/jul04/07-16LookoutPR.mspx

So it looks like Lookout got included in Outlook 2003. So uninstall the
plug-in and run the setup program in Add/Remove Programs to re-add it.
Or, and as the error message tells you, something else you installed
replaced the libraries required by Lookout with versions that are
incompatible, so you will have to get rid of the other plug-in, probably
still have to do a repair on Outlook (it is under the Help menu), and
then see if the other plug-in has a newer and compatible version that
works with OL2003 or OL2007.

By the way, Outlook 20007 is still 180 centuries away and probably won't
have anything to do with the Outlook software of today.

I did upgrade. I don't, though, have an old version (that I'm aware of) of
Microsoft desktop search installed.

Thanks for all the information (imagining, now, what Outlook 20007 will look
like!). I'm a novice when it comes to configurations. Can you tell me how
to find and uninstall the plug-ins?

I still have OL2002. There was no bang-for-the-buck for me to waste
buying OL2003. There is nothing I need in OL2007. All the "new"
features are old functions that have long been available via 3rd party
software, much of which is free. So I do not know the menu navigation
in OL2007 to remove plug-ins. In OL2002, it is Tools -> Options ->
Other -> Advanced Options -> COM Add-ins. The Add-In Manager shows
other types of add-ons but not an uninstall option (but you can disable
them). In fact, you might try to disable all of them to see if Outlook
starts normally, or run Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe")
which won't load any add-ons to see if Outlook then operates okay. You
might also just go look in Add-Remove Programs to see if they are listed
there as they may provide their own uninstall method.

Thanks - I found it in Add-Remove and everything is fine!

Thanks for your help.
