How do I customize the ribbons to take up less space?

Hello All,

If find the ribbon bar to be waaaay to big. I want to shrink it down, say
by using small icons with no text. The online help has nothing on this and I
couldn't find any obvious settings for it.

As a side note, I'd also like to determine out to have it closed by default.

Any pointers here would be greatly appriciately.

Thanxx,

Adam

Questions about the "ribbon" UI in Office 2007 should be posted to the beta newsgroups.

I thought this was. I followed the links provided to my by Outlook 2007 and
this is where I ended up. I suppose I need to log that as a bug.

Thanxx for letting me know,

Adam

If you are a member of the technical beta, you'll already have information on how to access the beta newsgroups. If you are using the public preview of Beta 2, post questions here. If you want to provide feedback on the public preview version of Office 2007 Beta 2, get the Send a Smile tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A2E1F4E2-BC0F-4403-B09F-7A677D55F274. This tool will transmit your comments and a screenshot back to Microsoft. For more information, see http://spaces.msn.com/turtleflock-ol2007/blog/cns!C1013F1F9A99E3D8!135.entry

Hi Adam,

You are out of luck. You cannot do what you are looking for and there is
no chance this will change for Office 2007. The ribbon is as big as it
is, and user customization is virtually not possible (especially not the
kind you are looking to do). For a discussion of what can be customized
by a user, please see:

As to the beta newsgroups. For the public beta, these newsgroups here
are the designated ones.
