I am listing a number of options in a table and then I want the prices to be
right-aligned in the cells at a certain position.

How do I define such a tab stop?

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/SettingTabs.htm. You can still use
the ruler to set tab stops in a table, but you need to use Ctrl+Tab to go to
them. If you set a decimal tab stop in a cell, the numbers will align at it
automatically, but if you have other text in the cell, it gets more
complicated.

If you have only numbers in a given column, just right-align the column
(with a right indent if needed).

Alternatively, you may not need a table at all; it may be that tabs alone
with give the result you need; see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/NumberAlignment.htm
