How do I delete a calendar appt marked "Private"

We are using a shared calendar in Outlook 2000. How can
we delete appointments marked as Private?. It is simply
taking up real estate and we need to clean that up.
Nothing happens if you double click on top of that appt.
Right click option is also not available on such appts.
