How do I delete an attachment and keep the email?

I am running out of space and I have several emails that have attachments.
I would like to keep the email but delete the attachments.

I have tried highlighting the attachment and the DEL key but no luck. Help
is appreciated...Thanks, Eric

the best way I know how it to make a folder of the emails and save the e
mail as a text file. or save it in word.
