How do i delete an old Outlook account from ex employers?

Hi,
I recently left my former company and they allowed me to take my iPhone with me. The Outlook account is still locked to the former employer's account. I cannot delete it as don't have any access to that Oulook account anymore. Furthermore I cannot install any new Outlook account as the phone is still locked into the old one. Have spoken to Apple and theres nothing they can do, its a software issue - Please Help ?
