How do I delete emails in Outlook

When deleting emails in Outlook, it only puts a line though the header, but
does remove the message or move it ot the 'recently deleted' folder.

How can I remove the emails completely or get them into the 'recently
deleted' folder?

You have an IMAP account? You need to run the Purge option. Tools-Send and
Receive-Process Marked Headers in this folder.
That's the normal behaviour of IMAP.
