How do I detach label from a control?

I would like to move the label from detail to the page header, but when I
delete or cut the label, the control is also deleted or cut. How can I
detach label without having to recreate the control? Thank you for a reply.

It may help to say what version of Access you are using. In Access 2003 and
earlier you should be able to click the label, then cut. Open the property
sheet first so you can confirm you have selected the label and not the
control with which it is associated. Click into the header and paste.

Access 2007. I did select only the label.

I don't have Access 2007 here, so I can't say just how it differs from 2003
etc., but maybe somebody else will jump in now that the version has been
identified.

I never had this problem with the previous versions of Access, either. I've
searched the the Property options of this label and control and menu options
and cannot find a way to detach the label, (or detach a control that is part
of a group, for that matter). I do not view what they've done as an
enhancement.
If anyone else can help, please chime in. Thanks.

In 2007 when you create a form all objects are connected you have to change
them so they are not.
In design view Select all right click, layout, remove. This should solve your
problem.
