How do I display checkboxes in datasheet view?

Access help says Yes/No format displays checkboxes on controls, but how do
you get it in datasheet view? It's possible because I have some that display
checkboxes, but any new design won't do it.

in form design, just add a checkbox control from the Toolbox toolbar, and
set the control's ControlSource property to the name of the Yes/No field in
the form's underlying table.

Well, yes, that puts a checkbox on the form, but doesn't put a checkbox in
the datasheet view for the table, which is where I want one.

There are two different datasheet views. One is a direct view of the table.
Another is to view the form in datasheet view.

Regardless of which view you are using, you'll need to add a field to your
table and set it's data type to Yes/No. This will show up in the table-
datasheet view as a check box. To make it show on the form like this, all
you need to do is run the form wizard or follow the instructions listed above.
Either way, your form will have a check box in form view and datasheet view.

I understand your reply, and this is what the Access documentation states.
However, when I set the format in the table design to Yes/No, I don't get the
checkbox in the datasheet view for the table(even after setting up a form
with this field as a source for a checkbox control). I get 'Yes/No' in the
column instead of a checkbox. I am looking for a way to force the display
format to a checkbox. I have another database which displays checkboxes, but
there is nothing different I can see about the table design from the database
I'm trying to force to checkboxes, or options, or anything else. It is a
mystery to me. If anyone knows the solution to this mystery, I'd be very
grateful for it.

On the lookup tab at the bottom of table design view enter Check Box as the
Display Control. In my version of Access 97 that is the default for a Yes/No
field, but perhaps you need to set it yourself.
