How do I display details in while in calendar view in Outlook?

Going to Tools - Options - Calendar Options- Planner Options -- does not work.

I would like to see the information I typed in the details of the
appointment, without having to click the appointment open.

Enable the Reading Pane.

using the 'day/week/month view with autopreivew' will display the first few
lines in a tooltip or or in the appointment on the day views if the
appointment is longer (i.e., a 2hr appointment previews more details than a
6 min appointment will).
