How do I display the day versus the date in my outlook calendar?

I have tried to use the "customize current view" function and have had no
success. My calendar currently displays the date rather than the actual day
(Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc.).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to set the long date format in Control Panel->Regional Settings.
