How do I do a "hard wrap" in Word98?

G

Gary Goldberg

I've imported text I created in BBEditLite 4.6 into Word98 and
the line lengths are all wrong, i.e. the text is not even and
compact as it ought to be.

I've tried to find "justify" and "widow and orphan" control, etc.
but nothing happens.

How can I fix this problem?

Hi Gary,

Is there a carriage return at the end of each line? If you don't know how
to tell, turn on Show/Hide formatting (the reverse paragraph symbol) to see
all hidden marks.

If that's the case, you'll need to do a Find/Replace as follows:

Open the Find/Replace dialog box (from the Edit menu) and click on More. Be
sure the cursor is in the Find box and then click Special and choose
Paragraph Mark. Leave the Replace box completely blank. Click Find Next
and then Replace. Continue through the document. Or click Replace All, but
note that if the document was created with an extra carriage return between
paragraphs, those will also be removed.

If something else is going on, you'll have to be more explicit.
