How do I do a historic timeline in Visio?

I am attempting to do a Biblical Timeline. When I try and use a date
feature, it seems as if I can only use "current" dates, rather then BC.
Any ideas would be appreciated and/or an idea for a different Office
program. I did finally accomplish it in Excel but without the bells and
whistles that I think I could have gotten from Visio.

visio is limited to what the system clock recognizes, which in MS is nothing
prior to 1899 (unless you want to draw your own).
