If you do use the main Microsoft Office site, you need to make sure you do
NOT choose a template that is marked as being for "Office 2007" or any of
its programs.
Microsoft recently changed the mechanism for downloading, and the
2007-series templates can not be downloaded on the Mac until they get it
fixed. Obviously, if you have Microsoft Office 2007 running on your Mac,
they will be fine ‹ the new downloader checks for the presence of Office
2007, because the file format of the new templates is not compatible with
earlier versions.
All of the other templates on that site will be OK (although, some of them
may not work!). Obviously, any template containing VBA won't work in Office
2008 (but it will in Office 2004).
It's a bit of a lucky dip ‹ the only way to find out what works and what
doesn't is to try it
