How do I draw a family tree chart

I am trying to draw a family tree but the flow charts do not appear
appropriate and drawing using auto shapes is slow and limits the layout. Is
there a better way of drawing a family tree - I have all the family data.

For a standard pedigree chart (horizontal), I use a table with selectively
applied borders.
