How do I edit a site not downloaded on my pc?

I am helping a friend out by editing her site but I cannot open the site from
my computer. I go to open site, then type in the website in the site name
box. I receive the error that it isnt accessible. It keeps looking in
"mysite" which is located on my personal pc. I want to make the changes live
- any suggestions?

if you enter http://www.example.com (where example.com is your domain name)
and you get an error, you need to verify that the hosting company has FPSE
enabled.

Consider getting a copy first:
http://www.timeforweb.com/frontpage/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4988&PN=2 and
then publish. This way you have a back up copy

Yes that is what FPSE stands for.

Put the full http://www.mydomain.com address in. This requires the server
to have the FP server extensions installed.
You need your friend's password and username to log on to her host's web
server.
