How do I edit out the full pathname in hyperlinks

I use a master PowerPoint file (Agenda) to hyperlink to one of a set of other
PowerPoint files. Unfortunately when assigning a hyperlink to an object, the
full path name of the referenced file is placed by the program. I would like
to edit out everything except the file name (plus slide number) so that it
will work when the package of files is transported to another computer or
drive. I haven't figured out a way to do this as PowerPoint doesn't let me
edit the reference. Any way to do this?

Thanks for your help. VBA is out - most companies I work with lock macros out.
I was hoping someone would have a patch for something that should have been
in PowerPoint in the first place. OK I went to your website and the
StarterSet and StarterSet Plus don't mention anything about links. So it
looks like FixLinks might be what I need?
Money isn't the issue, the question with the tools (StarterSet Plus or
FixLinks) is does everyone who would use the doctored powerpoint file also
have to have the add-in?
PowerPoint 2000, 2003, 2007 and XP or Vista - any restrictions? I have
Vista Business Ultimate and PP 2007, but some companies I consult for use XP
and PP 2000.

No macros required in the presentations you send out (for any of the
suggestions). In the first one, you'd put the macro in a PPT you leave on
your own PC. As long as it's open along with the file you're working on,
you're good to go.

It should have been in PPT 97. I got tired of waiting. ;-)

As I mentioned, Starter Set Plus has a tool that lets you edit links.

looks like FixLinks might be what I need?

As I mentioned, if it's only a few links occasionally, StarterSet Plus
should be plenty. If you have lots of different types of links and just need
to get the job done fast, FixLinks would be a better choice.

No ... just you when you're fixing up the presentations before sending them
(and all linked files) out.

Depending on your user privileges, you might need to install to a
non-default directory in Vista. That's about it. No PPT version issues that
I'm aware of.
