How do I eliminate error 1606 that is blocking several functions .

Windows installer error 1606 continually pops up when I am working with
Outlook. It is blocking several functions, such as spell check, import and
export, and I don't know what else yet. Also pops up in Excel. Takes many
clicks to close the error message. How can I get this fixed? This is a new
Dell Inspiron 9200 notebook with XP and MS Office Basic 2003.

HI Dave,
maybe this link could be a solution

Thanks for the link. I checked the registry and disk drive references are
correct, except the HKEY_Current _User......USERSHELLFOLDERS data all show
%userprofile% etc. and the HKEY_LOCAL_Machine ......user shell folder shows
%all users profile%. No disk drive mentioned. I have no clue as to whether
this should be changed and if so, to what? Seems that these problems should
not be so difficult for the average bear to deal with. Thanks again, but I
remain dismayed.
