How do I eliminate excess fonts in Entourage?

Good Afternoon! Is there a method to eliminate fonts from the Entourage
list of available fonts? I¹m not sure where they came from, but I recently
noticed that I have 32 separate Arno fonts on my drop down list. Thirty two
I never use but have to scroll past...and contribute to the wait forever to
open time. I¹ve tried turning the Arno fonts off in Font Book without any
change. Appreciate any suggestions...Thanks!

Check to see if more than one copy is in this folder:

"/Library/Fonts/Microsoft"

If no.....

Under Entourage in the Menu bar, select switch Identity. Create a new
Identity. Do you see the same problem with excess listing of Arno fonts?

If yes, then go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts.
Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Open
Entourage in a new blank Identity. Do you see the extra fonts there?

Let me know what you find.

I checked Microsoft and only had Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Consolas,
Constantia, & Corbel listed...the Dark Side must like "C" fonts!

So I created a new identity and switched and still had Arno fonts, but for
some black box magic reason now I only have 9 Arno fonts listed under both
my regular identity and my newly created Test Identity.

So I switched as a new User...and the available fonts were back to 32
varieties of Arno.

Maybe I didn't make my question clear enough? I don't have excess listings
of Arno fonts...whether 32 or 9...just too many fonts altogether. I just
want to eliminate all the Arno fonts, and maybe a bunch of others, to make
the font selection process quicker and easier. As it stands now, I have to
wait for what seems like minutes for the full listing to load. Isn't there
a simple way to cut down the number of fonts?

When you say you switched to a new User, did you do this in System
Preferences? The terms User and Identity are often confused.

If you are seeing multiple listings of a font when there is only one
installed, this indicates to me there is some preference file that is
corrupt. It would have to be at the root level since it's affecting both
your User's account and the new User account. I'm thinking an "Archive &
Install." This will replace the operating system, but will leave your files,
settings, user(s), installed applications, etc.

I did both, new Identity and new User. But I'm not seeing multiple
listings, only a listing with way to many fonts. Picking on the Arno Pro
font, I see Bold, Bold Caption, Bold Display, Caption, Display, Light
Display, Smbd, Smbd Caption, and Smbd Display. Keeping scrolling to the end
of the available fonts and there are 34 Japanese/Chinese character fonts.
I've turned off WYSIWYG and that has really helped the opening time, but I
had hoped there would be some preference/file where I could easily
mark/bound/delete fonts I just didn't want to use in Entourage. Apparently
that's not the case, so I'll just live with what I've got vice risking
removing/deactivating nonessentials fonts and in the process inadvertently
removing/deactivating my entire system.

If you really have a long list of fonts then consider a font manager
such as Extensis Suitcase
<http://www.extensis.com/en/products/suitcasefusion2/index.jsp>. You can
assign fonts to activate when you open an application and then close
when you're not using that application.

Hope this helps!
