How do I eliminate, in Excel XP, "too many cell formats" error?

In workbook, which I 'Save As' from month-to-month for my monthly financials,
I have been getting "too many cell formats" This is in Excel within Office
XP.

This is quite a common error as Excel allows a relatively small amount of
formats and a format is counted if it differs in any way from another, two
cells with exactly the same except on a point bigger is counted as a
separate format.

You will need to audit the sheet and cut them back or better still, set up
some styles (Format>Styles...) and apply these. That way they will all be
guaranteed the same
