How do I eliminate shadow blocks when converting from Visio to Wo.

When I copy/paste a flowchart from Visio into Word, each figure takes a
shadow with it that encompasses the figure. The shadow is square or
rectangular, to fully encompass the figure, in some cases overlapping with
other figures. How do I eliminate these?
