how do I embed a word document in ms project?

In MS Project 2003, how do I link or embed a Word or Excel document into a
task line such that: a document icon appears in the column to the left of the
task, I can click the icon to open the document, and the document is managed
from the source file (ie, if I change the document from the source file, it
changes in the Project file too)? I already know I can use the Insert/Object
command, browse for the file I want to embed, and click "link" but, in that
case, the Word icon appears in the body of the Gantt chart, not in the task
info box, and not in the column next to the task. So in effect, the document
is now linked to the Project file itself, but not to any specific task...I
want it linked to a specific task, and I want the icon to show next to the
task. Thanks for any tips.

Insert/Column/Hyperlink
Type something into the link box, such as Report. It will appear as a
hyperlink.
Right click on Mr. Hyperlink and edit the link. Browse to the document of
your choice and select OK.

The link now appears next to the task on the task side of the chart.
Clicking the link wakes up the source document in its native program such as
Word.
