The first message I got was:
"The macros in theis project are disabled. Please refer..." (we all know
what it say)

I did what Susan said...tools, macros, security, medium, checked the
boxes...now I get a message saying:

"Filename" containes macros.
Macros may contain viruses. It is usually safe to disable macros, but if
the macros are legitimate, you might lose some functionality.
You have the option to disable macros, enable macros, and more info.

All I want to do is open word and there be a blank document. PLEASE HELP
ME! This is very frustrating.
Thanks!

Go one step further and check the box to trust installed templates and
Add-Ins. If that doesn't do it, write back. (Reply to this message if you
want me to see your response.)

This is just opening Word to a blank document? Something has placed a macro
somewhere that it shouldn't have. Test for this by starting Word in Safe
Mode. Go to Start, Run and type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word should start up to a blank document? If it is now OK,
you need to find out what has been added and remove it. See this FAQ for
some help:

I suspect, then, that you have an Add-In in the Office\STARTUP folder
instead of in the Word Startup folder. The former is under All Users and is
not an installed template location for purposes of macro security, the
latter is normally under your user name and is. You need to move it from the
one to the other, which will take administrator permissions if you are in
Windows XP.

With hidden and system files being shown in your folder options (a Windows
setting) do a Windows search (F3 - files and folders) of My Computer for
STARTUP. You should find the Office\Startup folder. Then check out Word's
location in Word: Tools > Options > Files Location (tab).

You can see why I didn't want to get into this if it wasn't needed. Hope
this helps.
