how do i erase part of the picture on top?

inserted pic below text and another above text. want to erase parts of pic
above to see below. any help?

I am not sure if I have understood properly but:

If you want to cut part of a picture away, if it is a case of clipping some
off an edge then use the crop tool. If you want to cut away an irregular
shape then create the shape you want to end up with using the Curve or
Freeform tool and then go to Fill Color/Fill Effects/Picture to fit your
picture into your shape.

Is this what you meant?
