How do I fax direct from MS Office 2007

I tried registering InterFax, but it wouldn't accept my Windows Live Hotmail
address. I don't want to open another account for this purpose since I don't
fax regularly any way. This particular addressee does'nt have an email
address.

InterFax supposedly allows you to fax from Office 2007
applications through Hotmail. But the InterFax service is NOT
free, and I suspect the problem is that you did not want to pay
them for their service.

If your PC has a fax modem connected to a telephone line, and you have fax
software installed, you can send the fax direct from your PC without the
need to use an internet service or e-mail address.

I am willing to pay for the service, but in the format for registration I filled in my Live ID and there was a pop-up in red saying "free addresses are forbidden" or something to that effect. The problem is Interfax itself.

I only have a Verizon modem for HD tv. I don't want to invest in hardware for occasional faxes
